Bernard Bormann is the director of UW’s Olympic Natural Resources Center (ONRC) in Forks, Washington, as well as a professor of forest ecology and physiology at the School of Environmental and Forest Sciences. He is most interested in research that develops and further studies creative, win-win solutions that can improve both ecologic and community wellbeing especially in rural human-forest ecosystems. Before coming to the College of the Environment, he spent 34 years as a scientist with the U.S. Forest Service, where he led the Long-Term Ecosystem Productivity Program for the Pacific Northwest Research Station.
