College of the Environment faculty, staff and students use countless ways to broaden the reach and impact of their work. College contributes to Campus Sustainability Fund project in honor of 2018 graduates

It is graduation season, and with that comes well wishes for our graduates and an opportunity to shine a light on their accomplishments. In appreciation of their contributions to enriching the College of the Environment in numerous ways, the College has decided to fund a project jointly with the Campus Sustainability Fund (CSF). Recognizing our students are the next generation of leaders in environmental science and decision-making, we believe this is a contribution that showcases our collective commitment to the sustainability and the well-being of our Husky Community and our planet.

UW Environment announces 2018-2019 dean's office scholarship recipients

The College is pleased to announce the following undergraduate and graduate scholarships awarded for 2018-19: Del Rio Endowed Environmental Studies Scholarship The Del Rio Family Foundation established the Del Rio Endowed Scholarship Fund for Environmental Studies to encourage and support students with an interest in the environment who are participating in the Educational Opportunity Program, which promotes academic success and graduation for under-represented ethnic minority, economically disadvantaged and first-generation college students at the University of Washington.

2018 Hall Conservation Genetics Research Fund winners announced

UW Environment is pleased to announce that School of Environmental and Forest Sciences’ students Taylor Ganz and Lila Westreich and the School of Aquatic and Fishery Sciences’ Marta Gomez-Buckley are recipients of the 2018 Hall Conservation Genetics Research Fund. The fund is made possible by a generous gift from the Benjamin and Margaret Hall Charitable Lead Trust. Taylor Ganz Advisor: Laura Prugh Using forensic DNA analysis to identify the species and individual predator at white-tailed deer (Odocoileus virginianus), mule deer (Odocoileus virginianus) and elk (Cervus elaphus) kill sites, the project will quantify the degree of specialization within predators, applying recently developed techniques in wildlife forensics to inform the conservation and management of Washington’s wildlife.
