Position Announcement for potential open positions Summer 2024 and 2024-2025 Academic Year

Employment Period: Quarterly, 6/16/24 – 6/17/25
Program on the Environment is seeking a reader/grader to provide support for ENVIR 100: Introduction to Environmental Studies and ENVIR 310: Data Analysis in Environmental Studies. PoE hopes to hire two Reader-Graders, one for each of these courses. We may also hire a reader-grader for ENVIR 239, Sustainability: Personal Choices, Broad Impacts, and ENVIR 401, Analysis of Environmental Cases. The reader-grader will assist the instructor with grading student work.
Responsibilities include:
The reader/grader’s primary role is to help the faculty member grade student work. The reader/grader will meet weekly with the faculty member and grade the student work using rubrics developed by the instructor. The meetings and all grading can occur online, though if both reader-grader and faculty person prefer to meet in person, that is possible.
Requirements:
• Academic Standing as a UW graduate student and eligibility to hold a reader-grader position
• Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills;
• Availability for full appointment timeframe.
• FOR ENVIR 310
o REQUIRED: Proficiency with data-analysis software: Excel and/or Tableau
o DESIRED: Experience with qualitative analysis
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
Compensation: $25.00/hour. The reader-graders will work a maximum of 115 hours each quarter
