Bruce Nelson to serve as Associate Dean for Research

Bruce Nelson

Department of Earth and Space Sciences Professor Bruce Nelson has agreed to serve as the College of the Environment’s Associate Dean for Research, effective September 16. In this role he will foster multidisciplinary collaborations, promote and support the range of basic and applied research programs across the College and University, and help faculty identify opportunities to partner and collaborate with universities and research organizations both in the U.S.

UW Environment announces 2020-2021 dean’s office scholarship recipients

The College of the Environment is pleased to announce the following undergraduate and graduate scholarships awarded for 2020-21: Del Rio Endowed Environmental Studies Scholarship The Del Rio Family Foundation established the Del Rio Endowed Scholarship Fund for Environmental Studies to encourage and support students with an interest in the environment who are participating in the Educational Opportunity Program. The Program promotes academic success and graduation for under-represented ethnic minority, economically disadvantaged and first-generation college students at the University of Washington.

Lisa J. Graumlich to step down as dean in June 2021

College of the Environment Dean Lisa J. Graumlich

Dean Lisa J. Graumlich will step down as dean of the College of the Environment at the end of this academic year, June 30, 2021.  As the inaugural dean of the College of the Environment, Graumlich merged two colleges and academic departments from a third college, and established a cohesive unit focused on our planet and solar system. Over the last 10 years, she has worked to build the common culture, shared aspirations and collaborative spirit alive in the college today.
