Engage, an organization of graduate students in scientific disciplines across UW, helps scientists talk about their work to non-science audiences. They offer a seminar course and a chance to speak at Town Hall, and now their students are blogging about their experiences. Emerging from an interdisciplinary conversation about how to advance knowledge of biodiversity, BioDiverse Perspectives is a blog intended to be a space for graduate students with an interest in biodiversity to share thoughts about important issues in our field. Bloggers focus on reviews of papers that they consider to be Foundational or Frontier in the biodiversity science. CoEnv graduate students Hillary Burgess and Fletcher Halliday are among the contributors. 

Open to all UW students, the UW Environmental Career Fair is an opportunity to explore careers in environmental and natural resources fields. The Environmental Career Fair features employers from the nonprofit, government, and private sectors with career-level positions and internships. Check it out!

Last summer the Arctic sea ice melted to a record low. At the same time, a freak cyclone over the Arctic hung out for a record 13 days in August. Was the cyclone the key driver of the record ice melt? Researchers from UW’s Polar Science Center say that no. Read more here!
