Cailey Condit is a geologist who works to understand the feedbacks and relationships between the chemical and mechanical processes in the deep crust and lithosphere. She combines field and laboratory observations of the natural rock record with petrologic modeling, and experimental and geophysical constraints to establish how metamorphism and deformation influence the evolution of the lithosphere. Her research is focused on the complex feedback between metamorphic reactions and fault zone behaviors along subduction zone faults and within continental collisional zones. Her work is also aimed at constraining how petrologic and mechanical processes transform lithospheric properties, including density, rheology and seismic anisotropy, which have significant geodynamic and tectonic consequences. Condit works closely with deformation experimentalists and geophysicists to understand these multifaceted geologic processes.
