The College of the Environment in partnership with The Graduate School and the UW Alumni Association is pleased to present the fall speaker series Surviving Disaster: Natural Hazards & Resilient Communities. Join us for a series of discussions centered around natural disasters — like earthquakes, tsunamis, landslides and hurricanes — and how they can affect the lives and livelihoods of people here in the Pacific Northwest and beyond. Speakers will explore the latest developments in social and natural science that help us survive and respond to disasters in whatever form they might take.

Speakers include the College of the Environment’s own John Vidale and David Montgomery, as well as UW College of Engineering’s Kate Starbird. Joining them will be Pulitzer-prize winning journalist Jed Horne and co-founder and CEO of Team Rubicon’s Jake Wood. All lectures are public and will take place in Kane Hall. Advance registration is required. Join us!
