We want to learn from students, staff, and faculty across the College about their experiences in and perceptions of the learning, living, and working environment within the College.  We are working with the Center for Workforce Development (CWD) to conduct the study through a combination of surveys and focus groups.

What are the goals of this study?

  • To understand how staff, faculty, undergraduate students, and graduate students experience the College of the Environment
  • To provide insights into how to improve working and learning environments so that the College of the Environment can be a stronger community
  • To better understand the strengths, challenges, and opportunities for change related to the inclusive participation of diverse groups of students, faculty, and staff.
  • To develop a more comprehensive picture of the College environment that can serve a benchmark for the future.
  • The College is ready to move forward and make investments in improving diversity, inclusion, and access in the College and wants to be sure that the investments made are highly relevant and responsive to the most urgent needs in the college. Data is needed to inform those decisions.

The study is intended to uncover actionable results – specific ideas and strategies that will strengthen our community and make this a more welcoming, inclusive place for all.

Your input is critical in the first step of gathering comments from the College community on what topics are the most crucial to include in the study.  Please participate in the confidential survey that the UW Center for Workforce Development is administering: https://catalyst.uw.edu/webq/survey/elitzler/287396.  You can learn more about the study, including the questions and topics that have already been submitted and the plans for data collection, on the CoENV Culture study Catalyst site.
