Shannon Ewanick is a lecturer in the Bioresource Science and Engineering (BSE) program within the School of Environmental and Forest Sciences. She teaches undergraduate students about how to sustainably produce biofuels and bioproducts (including pulp and paper) from bioresources, primarily lignocellulosic biomass. Students learn how to critically examine and design processes used to make different types of bioproducts, and determine the best use of a given feedstock in terms of both economics and the environment. Shannon is also a researcher in the Biofuels and Bioproducts Laboratory specializing in the bioconversion of lignocellulosic biomass. She received her Ph.D. in Bioresource Science and Engineering at the University of Washington in 2012.
