Roger Marchand

Research Professor

Roger Marchand is an atmospheric scientist who studies clouds. Specifically, his research has focused on testing the representation of clouds in models with remote sensing observations, measurements from satellites and ground-based instruments such as radar, and then working to make those representations more accurate. Dr. Marchand is a research professor in the UW atmospheric science department and a member of Joint Institute for the Study of the Atmosphere and Ocean, as well as various instrument programs such as the Department of Energy’s Atmospheric Radiation Measurement (ARM) program (which maintains a number of heavily instrumented ground-based atmospheric observing sites) and various NASA satellite mission teams, such as CloudSat and MISR.
