Erika Harnett

Research Associate Professor

Earth & Space Sciences

Erika Harnett is a geophysicist who studies weather in space. More precisely, she looks at how solar wind interacts with weakly magnetized planets, like the Moon or Mars. In addition, she is helping to develop advanced computing techniques to create models for Space Weather applications that are not only accurate, but can also be run at speeds to allow them to be used as predictive models. She is the Associate Director of the Washington NASA Space Grant Consortium. She is also dedicated to science outreach as a Science Fellow at the Pacific Science Center, and strong advocate for increasing the access of those underrepresented in STEM.
