Dorothy Paun uses a multidisciplinary approach to explore what she calls triple bottom line sustainability performance—interrelationships, that is, among corporate environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and financial performance. She argues that corporations will be incentivized if we learn that decreasing their ecological footprints or increasing their social responsibility can lead to higher profits. For her work, she has received a prestigious Fulbright Distinguished Chair Research Award, been a visiting professor at Canadian, Finnish, German, and Italian universities, and, prior to her academic career, was a both a stockbroker and Alaskan park ranger. Paun’s SPA System, a tool for assessing corporate sustainability performance, was published in the Journal of Sustainability Education in December 2016.
