Chris Grue is a biologist who studies the effects of environmental contaminants on wildlife, especially birds. He also looks at the impacts chemical controls used on invasive aquatic plants can have on the larger environment. He began his career as a toxicologist with the federal government before moving back to his current perch the ivory tower. Now, as leader of the Washington Fish and Wildlife Cooperative Unit, he both participates and helps coordinate research projects run jointly through UW and a host of cooperating state and federal agencies.
