When Bruce Miller retired in 2002, he had been a faculty member at the School of Aquatic and Fishery Sciences for 27 years. His teaching and research focused on the ecology and early life history of marine fishes, with an emphasis on Puget Sound fishes. He now works part-time at SAFS on a long term SAFS-NOAA (Kerim Aydin)-JISAO project on the trophic dynamics of key fish species of the North Pacific, and continues his interest in the early life history of marine fishes. In 2009 he published a book with Art Kendall from NOAA Fisheries, titled “Early Life History of Marine Fishes”, using material from classes they taught at SAFS and especially at the Friday Harbor Labs.
