Alexis Licht

Assistant Professor

Alexis Licht is a geologist who studies the climatic and geodynamic record preserved in sediments. More specifically, he uses sedimentological and geochemical tools applied to old continental sedimentary rocks to understand when, how and under which climatic conditions they were deposited. Licht’s work focuses on deciphering the complex interactions between ecosystems, climate and paleogeography. He is interested in the reconstruction of long-term climatic trends and on their influence on vertebrates and Angiosperms evolution. He works closely with paleontologists and paleobotanists and leads field expeditions in Myanmar, Turkey and China.
