Alex Turner

Assistant Professor

Alex Turner is an atmospheric scientist who works on climate and air quality. Much of his work is focused on greenhouse gases because of their profound importance for our climate. He is particularly interested in problems at the intersection of atmospheric chemistry and the carbon cycle, such as understanding how changes in the chemical composition of our atmosphere affect the cycling of carbon from greenhouse gases. His research utilizes satellite remote sensing, numerical modeling and Bayesian inference. Alex received the James R. Holton Junior Scientist Award from the American Geophysical Union in 2020 for outstanding research contributions from a young scientist.
